Karen is a Yorta Yorta woman who was born and raised in Melbourne. Karen is a strong advocate for developing culturally appropriate solutions to the issues confronting Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities so they can confidently and effectively move forward.
Karen has worked with 35 Aboriginal communities and their organisations in Victoria and with over 100 Aboriginal communities nationally across all issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities in Australia.
Karen’s consultancy work includes evaluation and reviews, Reconciliation Action Plans, stakeholder consultations, survey design and qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
Karen mentors Aboriginal people, undertakes governance training and Aboriginal organisation Board and staff development and provides cultural advice and support to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal organisations.
Karen has received numerous awards for her work including: Fellowship for Indigenous Australians, Fellow Leadership Award; Nominee, Telstra Business Awards; NAIDOC Community Award; Deakin Community Australia Day Award; Community Person of the Year Award (NAIDOC Committee Award); Young Achiever Award, ATSIC Indigenous Women’s Awards. She is currently completing an MBA and holds certificates in Office and Business Administration and Workplace Training and Assessment.
