Our Experience : City of Yarra Victoria - Yarra HACC and Homelessness Forum

City of Yarra Victoria - Yarra HACC and Homelessness Forum 2008

A number of organisations in Yarra or serving Yarra are providing HACC services to homeless people in Yarra. Some services are specialised to the needs of people who are homeless (for example Yarra City Council (HACC). Yarra municipality has a long history of research, activism and service development in meeting the needs of homeless people. In contrast with other areas of Melbourne the city of Yarra is well endowed with services. Yarra has also benefited from a high level of support for local planning. Longstanding leadership in agencies, and a Council committed to devoting resources to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in the community give some strategic advantages in the process of ongoing planning for this community group.   A working group comprising representatives of City of Yarra, HomeGround and LDC Group prepared the forum program and materials for distribution prior to the forum. City of Yarra and HomeGround were responsible for distributing information about the forum and LDC Group facilitated the forum and collated forum resources – see Appendix 3 – Forum Invitation and Program. The agenda for the program focused on activities for sharing information and knowledge between participants through presentations, communication exercises and case study exercises.
